The list of expensive watches ever sold at an auction is heavily dominated by one name, Patek Philippe. The list is punctuated by a surprise Hollywood connection too!

5. Originally owned by Egyptian Prince Mohammed Toussou, the Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 was sold for $9.5m through Sotheby’s.

4. Patek Philippe Ref 1518 stainless steel is a 1941 watch that had a bid of $11.37m in a 2016 Phillips auction in Geneva.

3. Rolex Daytona 6239 was famously owned by screen legend Paul Newman. It grabbed a cool $17.75m in 2017.

2. The Patek Phillipe Henry Graves Supercomplication is an 18k gold pocket watch that was sold at Sotheby’s in 2014. It was sold for $23.98m.

1. The pole position is held by Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300A-010. It was sold for $31.19m in Geneva in 2019
